We recently heard rumors that Black Panther 2 will be premiering on Disney+ on January 20. Several days later, Disney officially announced that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is coming to the streaming platform on February 1, 2023, via a new dedicated page for the movie on the site. Despite being commercially successful, Marvel has not yet committed to a third film for Black Panther. Producer Nate Moore previously stated that director Ryan Coogler wants to see how the film performs at the box office before considering a sequel. “That’s a great question. To be honest, this is not me trying to not answer the question,” Moore said regarding the third movie. “We really want to see how audiences receive the film, and I think Ryan’s really interested to see how the film plays before we decide.” He adds, “There are certainly ideas we’ve floated around of what a third film could be if we get to make it. But until the movie comes out, we’re a bit superstitious in that way. We don’t want to count our chickens, because you never know what’s going to happen.”

The movie also received positive reviews from critics and fans. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has also been shortlisted for five Academy Award nominations. Director Ryan Coogler wants to be part of a third Black Panther movie. The director said that he wants to continue the series given the success of the first two movies. Considering the long history of the character(s) bearing the mantle, there is definitely plenty of material to draw from. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever closes Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Phase 5 begins with the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania on February 17, 2023. Ant-Man 3 will have a new trailer premiere next week at the College Football Playoff National Championship game airing on ESPN. Coogler is currently working on the upcoming Iron Heart series for Disney+. Riri Williams aka Ironheart was introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. There were reports that Coogler was also working on two Black Panther spin-off series. One was centered on General Okoye’s origin story. The other spin-off is reportedly about the Kingdom of Wakanda. Nate Moore gave fans an update saying that Coogler and the production team were focusing on Black Panther 2 and Iron Heart and not much progress has been made on the spin-offs. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be available for streaming on Disney+ on February 1, 2023.
