Is there any chance that we’ll see Spider-Man 4?

Sam Raimi had the honor of bringing iconic comic book superhero Spider-Man to life and he did not disappoint. From 2002 to 2007, Raimi released a trio of Spider-Man films that went on to make a combined total of somewhere around $2.5 billion at the global box office. In a perfect world, Raimi and Maguire would have had the chance for a fourth go, with Spider-Man 4 originally set to release in 2011. Unfortunately, things did not pan out. Spider-Man 4 was eventually canceled, including a planned video game adaptation. Sony later rebooted the character in 2012 with Andrew Garfield as the lead actor in a pair of The Amazing Spider-Man films before partnering up with Disney and Marvel Studios to bring the web-head into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Tom Holland. Although it’s probably too late for the original plans for the canceled Spider-Man 4 to come to fruition, with John Malkovich and Anne Hathaway set to take on the roles of Vulture and Black Cat, respectively, it appears that fans are still hoping that Raimi and Maguire would reunite. Spider-Man fans are currently making the #MakeRaimiSpiderMan4 trend on Twitter in similar hopes to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut. Of course, it took many years of effort and all actors to be on board for Zack Snyder to get a chance to his version of Justice League. Then again, with Sam Raimi already in the MCU as the director of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, who knows? Sam might be able to secure a meeting with Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige. Ultimately, the fate of Spider-Man 4 lies with Sony. The studio still owns the rights to Spider-Man. Not to mention, Sony is busy building its cinematic universe, starting with 2018’s Venom and last year’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage. With Venom 3 still coming, as well as Morbius, the Kraven the Hunter film, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Sony might feel that it’s saturating the market with Spider-Man with Sam Raimi’s fourth Spider-Man film. We have to remember that Sony might still be considering another Spider-Man trilogy with Tom Holland in the lead. Not to mention, there are rumors that Sony is planning on reviving Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man films as well. TLDR; If Sony doesn’t think that Raimi’s Spider-Man 4 doesn’t fit their current plans, then it doesn’t matter how many fans start tweeting #MakeRaimiSpiderMan4.
