Let’s take a look at the details.

Graphics and Gameplay Enhancement

The graphics for Final Fantasy VII Remake in 2020 were already a huge improvement over the original Playstation game from 1997. Square Enix, however, is taking it a step further for the Playstation 5 version. Lighting and special effects in Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade are cleaner and clearer. Textures are further detailed on both the environments and character models. Just look at the image of Cloud Strife and Sephiroth clashing in the updated scene from Final Fantasy Remake Intergrade below: The game also promises to feature smoother animations and fluid movement during battle. Cut scenes have also been enhanced for high definition fidelity. The PS5 Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will also have faster loading times and potentially 60 fps frame rates. Square Enix is aiming to have the full game display at a consistent 4k graphical mode. Players have the option of turning this higher graphics mode on, or using the Performance Mode for a smoother gameplay experience. And for those who like taking pictures during the game, a new photo mode is being implemented, allowing you to move the camera angles even during cut scenes. In addition, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will feature support for the DualSense Playstation 5 controller. However, the full details of how this will work during the course of play have yet to be released.

Yuffie Content and Episode

Long time Final Fantasy VII fans will be happy to know one of the missing characters from the initial version will be making her entrance. Yuffie Kisaragi, the cutie ninja from the original Final Fantasy VII, joins in the quest against the Shinra Corporation. Yuffie will be introduced during a separate mission in Midgar that will coincide with the events of the first Final Fantasy VII Remake. Like much of the story in the remake, this is a departure from the original version where Yuffie was encountered as a special event long after the party has left the Midgar area. In addition to Yuffie, Weiss (an antagonist that appeared in the spinoff Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus game which featured Vincent Valentine) will also be added to the revised story. There is sad news for those who only own a Playstation 4, however. Although Final Fantasy VII Remake was released on the PS4, the Yuffie elements are not compatible with PS4 hardware and are optimized for the Playstation 5. There are details on how to get a free upgrade if you already own the previous version though (see below).

Standard and Deluxe Editions

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be released as both a physical and digital edition. The standard edition will be priced at $69.99. A Deluxe edition will also be released for $89.99. This deluxe edition will include the Playstation 5 version of the Final Fantasy VII Remake, the Yuffie episode, a digital artbook, and a mini-soundtrack. For those who preorder, they will also receive Yuffie’s special Cacstar Shuriken weapon. Customers who already own Final Fantasy VII Remake for the Playstation 4 (either physical or digital versions) and who own a Playstation 5 can get a free upgrade to Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. Note that this free upgrade will not automatically include the Yuffie episode, but it can be purchased separately. The price for this separate purchase of the Yuffie episode has yet to be disclosed. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is scheduled for a June 10, 2021 worldwide release on the Playstation 5.
