So, what exactly is the high-value loot zone? The majority of the player base is prone to jumping into the same exact location to loot as they do in every other match. Looting and getting the appropriate weapons early into the game determines how well you can survive the first half of the game or at least until you get your loadout. Landing at the same POI does not mean that the players are guaranteed a high-rarity loot, but the main reason for dropping to the same location may also include the players knowing the ins and outs of the location. If you know the area well, you can easily get to the crates and lootable spots before the other players.
That said, high-value loot zones are designed to guarantee high-tier loot, including weapons, bundles of cash, and resurgence supply crates in set locations in each game. Yes, you heard that right. The locations will also include resurgence supply crates that will fill over time. So far, we’ve only seen the resurgence supply crates on Rebirth Island. You can also expect to find durable gas masks, killstreaks, and armor satchels. According to the developers at Raven Software, this feature is added to encourage players to drop in more different locations other than the conventional landing spots. Even if the players are not keen on landing on the high-value loot zones early on, they can always get to the areas mid-game. This is possible as map rotations are now much more convenient thanks to the redeploy balloons introduced in Season 2. Since the high-value loot zones will contain resurgence supply crates, you can always expect them to refill over time with new loot for you to grab. This can completely change the flow of the game. You can identify which POI is the high-value loot zone by the dollar sign beside them on your map. In a recent interview, Ted Timmins, senior creative director at Raven Software, shared some more insight and when players can expect to see the zones in-game. According to Timmins, the zones will be introduced in the game as part of the special limited-time event Operation Monarch, which goes live at 9 AM PT on May 11, 2022.
