What are the Types of Wood in Animal Crossing?
There are three types of wood in Animal Crossing: Every tree (with the exception of bamboo) can drop any of these three kinds of wood when it is hit by an axe. All the woods have a 33.33% or equal chances of dropping.
How to Get Wood from Trees in Animal Crossing?
Equip an axe and press ‘A’ when you’re standing near a tree to chop wood. Each tree produces a maximum of three pieces of wood every day. If you’re using a flimsy or stone axe, you can have a lively go at your trees without the fear of chopping them down. However, if you’re using a sturdy axe, the tree will fall over at the third swing. When a fruit-bearing tree is chopped, all their fruits drop as well. If there are no empty tiles near the tree, chopping the tree will not produce wood until space is available.
How to Get an Axe in Animal Crossing?
In order to get the flimsy axe recipe, head over to the Resident Services tent and speak to Tom Nook. If you give him fish or bugs, he’ll reward you with the flimsy axe recipe. To create a flimsy axe, you’ll need:

Getting your first axe is a rather easy task and it can be accomplished on the first day itself. However, the flimsy axe is only good enough to get wood from the trees and it will break rather soon.
Other Types of Axes in Animal Crossing
Your first flimsy axe will break pretty quickly. You can keep making flimsy axes and use them to chop woods, and in fact, we recommend you have a couple of flimsy axes at all times, but it’s not a long term fix. So here are a couple of other axes that will last you much longer than a flimsy axe.
Stone Axe
A Stone axe allows you to harvest wood from your trees without ever worrying about fully chopping them down. Furthermore, you’ll also be able to gather material like iron nuggets from rocks with the stone axe. To get the stone axe recipe, you’ll need to buy the ‘Pretty Good Tools Recipe’ from Nook’s shop. To craft a stone axe, you’ll need:

Sturdy Axe
The Sturdy Axe is the only axe in the game which will allow you to fully chop down a tree. The process of crafting the sturdy axe is similar to a stone axe, purchase the ‘Pretty Good Tools DIY Recipe’ from the Nook Shop terminal in Resident Services and gather the required material. To craft a sturdy axe, you’ll need:
