According to dataminers, Activision Blizzard and Infinity Ward will bring back who many fans considered the “worst” Call of Duty villain to the single-player campaign. As somewhat of a rehash of the original Modern Warfare 2 from 2009, we already that the next Call of Duty game will bring back Price, Soap, Gaz, and Ghost. However, it’s not unclear if the events of both games will be similar. It’s believed that the story has something to do with a terrorist organization threatening the United States. But, we don’t know anything else outside of this, save for what we’ve heard from rumors and speculation. Now, a datamine of Modern Warfare 2 yields concrete evidence of the potential events of Modern Warfare 2. According to the Modern Warfare 2 info unearthed, a mission titled “Strike” will be set in a fictional nation, Urzikstan. In this mission, players will take control of the fan-favorite, Simon “Ghost” Riley. Meanwhile, another mission, “Backstabbed”, teases the return of the “Loose Ends” mission. In the infamous MW2 mission, the series’ arch-villain, General Shepherd, who was masterfully voiced by Lance Henrikson, betrays Ghost and Roach. The mission titles aren’t definitive proof of anything. It could be that Infinity wants to bring back the painful memories of 2009. It could also be that we’re just making much ado about nothing. We’re definitely hoping that it’s the latter, but we’d warn you to prepare just in case. If you’re really eager to find out more about Modern Warfare 2, you can pre-order a digital copy of the game and get access on October 20. If not, you’ll have to wait until October 28 to find out if the developers are really as heartless as the leaks suggest.
