Perhaps, more importantly, Rocket League is set to welcome BMW’s latest car. The BMW M240i is coming to Rocket League this month.
Rocket League scores big with BMW partnership
As we’ve already mentioned, BMW will become the title sponsor for two Rocket League tournaments. Going forward, the Rocket League Open will be known as the BMW Rocket League Open. The tournament is the second regional tournament of the 2021-22 RLCS European Circuit and will kick off on November 5, featuring a $100,000 prize pool. At the same time, Rocket League freestyle players can participate in the BMW Freestyle Tournament for a chance to win part of the $25,000 prize pool. What’s perhaps the most interesting part is that BMW is releasing its latest car in Rocket League first, before it becomes available worldwide. Rocket League players will have a chance to purchase and drive the BMW M240i starting from November 4 to November 10. BMW isn’t the first automobile brand that has partnered with Psyonix and Rocket League. Previously, Psyonix had collaborated with other big automobile brands such as Ford, McLaren, as well a NASCAR and Formula 1. Over the years, Rocket League fans have had the privilege of driving several real-world vehicles in the game, including a virtual rendition of the McLaren 570S. Another notable partnership was between Psyonix and Lamborghini back in 2020 that culminated in the Battle of the Bulls. The said esports event saw players compete for a sizable cash prize and the Huracán STO. Psyonix, which is owned by Epic Games, announced earlier this year its plans for Rocket League, which includes a move into Unreal Engine 5.
